The old Rite Aid at 3224 Market Street used to be a quick stop for a prescription or a greeting card. Now the building holds a butcher counter that stays open until 7 p.m. on weekdays, with a Korean bakery-cafe and a smoothie shop lined up to join it. Up the street in the 3700 block, a wing chef with a national reputation is taking over a former cantina, and next door a golf simulator venue plans to stay open until 10 p.m. every night of the year.
The 3224 building is filling with places for morning and afternoon errands. The 3700 block is lining up places for evenings, built for the months when it gets dark at dinnertime. Here's where each one stands as November begins, and why that split matters for a regular week in Camp Hill.
The old Rite Aid is being rebuilt around daytime errands
Southern Steer Butcher came first. When PennLive reported the plans in May, the shop was aiming to open in early August. An event listing advertised a grand opening weekend for August 15 and 16, 2026, at 3224 Market Street. The Southern Steer Camp Hill location page now lists hours of 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday. A 7 p.m. weekday close leaves time to stop in after work.
Paris Baguette is next in line. According to PennLive's October 20 roundup of central Pennsylvania openings, the Korean bakery-cafe will open "later this fall" at 3224 Market Street. The menu leans toward the first half of the day: pastries, croissants, doughnuts, tarts, breads, quiches and croquettes, plus breakfast and lunch sandwiches, salads, coffee drinks, teas and smoothies. It doesn't have an announced opening day yet, so check the brand's own channels before planning a croissant run around it.
Smoothie King is also slated for 3224 Market Street, with a "Power Eats" menu of avocado toast, egg clouds and chicken bites alongside its smoothies. The Smoothie King locator page for the Camp Hill address still shows the store as closed every day, and no opening date has been posted.
When all three are open, nothing in this building is aimed at a late night. You'll be able to get a breakfast sandwich, a post-workout smoothie and the cut of meat for tonight's dinner in one parking lot, all of it fitting between the morning commute and early evening. A drugstore used to cover one errand at this address. Its replacement is set up to cover several before 7 p.m.
The 3700 block is lining up for dark evenings
Farther along Market Street, the plans point toward later hours. One note on geography first: this stretch is in Hampden Township, even though the addresses read Camp Hill.
Misfit Kitchen is moving into 3721 Market Street, the former El Sol Cantina, which closed in August. PennLive's September profile of the project introduces chef Matt Mager as a "chicken wing mad scientist" who spent 14 years at Center Street Grille in East Pennsboro Township. While he was there he built a following for wings with names like Cotton Candy Nightmares and Insane in the Membrane, and won national wing contests along the way. He's opening the restaurant with his wife, Kristin Mager. The menu will be heavy on wings and brick-oven pizza, and the restaurant will have a full liquor license.
The name comes from an Anthony Bourdain line that Mager told PennLive will be etched on the dining room wall: "The professional kitchen is the last refuge of the misfit." Quotes from chef José Andrés will go up beside it. Desserts will come from his daughter, Lily Mager, a culinary arts student at Harrisburg Area Community College. Mager told PennLive he expected to open in early October, but the October 20 roundup still listed Misfit Kitchen as a fall opening. The restaurant's Facebook page is the best place to check before you go.
The Turn Indoor Golf is across the way at the Shoppes of Hampden, 3730 Market Street. Its website says "Doors Open October 2026." PennLive's September report on the venue lays out the details:
- Trackman simulator technology, with five simulator bays
- Walk-in rate of $55 per bay per hour
- Five membership tiers, from $149 to $599 a month
- League play in three seasons: fall, winter and spring
- Lessons, plus corporate and group events
- Open daily, 10 a.m. to 10 p.m.
The owners are Erik Shingle, Mike Way and Jacob Friedman, and PennLive notes the business isn't tied to any franchise or national company. In a news release quoted by PennLive, Shingle described the idea behind it:
"We built The Turn because golfers in the Camp Hill area shouldn't have to wait for good weather or a tee time to work on their game. Whether it's a quick session after work or a weekend outing with friends, we wanted a space that makes golf more accessible year-round."
A $55 bay hour split among a foursome works out to under $14 a person. That puts a winter round in the same range as a casual dinner out. If Misfit Kitchen opens on schedule, the 3700 block could offer wings, a full bar and a simulator round within a few doors of each other, through the months when outdoor courses sit idle.
Where each Market Street spot stands as November begins
Opening dates move. Here's the status of each business based on the latest published information:
- Southern Steer Butcher, 3224 Market St. Hours are posted on its location page, and its grand opening was advertised for mid-August.
- Paris Baguette, 3224 Market St. Announced for later this fall. No date yet.
- Smoothie King, 3224 Market St. Slated to open. The locator still shows it closed.
- Misfit Kitchen, 3721 Market St. Originally targeting early October. As of October 20 it was still described as a fall opening.
- The Turn Indoor Golf, 3730 Market St. Promised for October, with booking links on its site.
For anything other than Southern Steer, check the business's own page or social account before you drive over.
Just off Market Street, more sit-down dinner choices are coming
A few nearby openings follow the same pattern, adding places to linger in the evening rather than places to dash in and out.
ABC27 confirmed on October 13 that Pinkberry is open at Camp Hill Commons, 61 Erford Road. Its flavor list includes mango lemonade, yuzu meringue, matcha and salted butter caramel.
Chocolate Avenue Grill is set to open a second restaurant in November at 1300 Camp Hill Bypass in East Pennsboro Township.
Tang Dumplings, a dim sum restaurant, is taking over the former Primanti Bros. space at Capital City Mall. PennLive reported in August that it was aiming to open as early as this November.
In Lower Allen Township, Chuy's Cafe is open at 3401 Hartzdale Drive, serving eggs, Benedicts, omelets and pancakes, followed by gyros, burgers and other sandwiches at lunch and dinner. Hanami Japanese Sushi, Hibachi & Cajun opened August 9 at the Shoppes at Cedar Cliff, 1104 Carlisle Road.
On the Carlisle Pike in Hampden Township, Bacco Pizzeria & Wine Bar closed in July. PennLive reported in September that the owner plans to reopen at the same address, 5523 Carlisle Pike, with a focus on pizza. The October 20 roundup still listed the reopening as upcoming. Nearby at 5305 Carlisle Pike, a Stretch Zone studio has opened, offering practitioner-assisted stretching.
A butcher and a bakery on one end of Market Street and a wing kitchen and golf simulators on the other make for two different neighbors.
